April 6: Sophie from Tribes + Society will be at the market demonstrating some metalsmithing. She is a Calgary-based jewelry line by Sophie Gabias Moffat who studied at the Alberta College of Art + Design. Tribes + Society uses sterling silver, brass, copper, and gemstones in their jewelry and is handcrafted by Sophie in her Calgary studio. Archeology and the anthropological meaning of jewelry play an important role in each of T+S’s unique pieces.
April 13: Come watch Sonja throw clay on her pottery wheel. Cumulus Clay is a Calgary-based porcelain landscape mug and dinnerware company by Sonja Redeker. Cumulus Clay pays tribute to the mountains in every piece with beautifully handmade ceramics. Sonja uses Alberta clay to create pieces within sight of the Rocky Mountains with the goal of transporting you to the wilderness through her art.
April 20: Hop & Flop will be printing bunny cards using her linocuts and handing them out to the children on Easter weekend. Jenny started out as a local handcrafted paper goods company that has expanded to include block printed greeting cards, enamel pins and more. Jenny Chan, creator of Hop & Flop first began selling her work in 2011 with an etsy shop.
