This special weekend event at both Calgary Farmer’s Market locations will bring together top ice carvers to compete in a three-day competition. Guests are invited to check out the incredible ice sculptures while enjoying the outdoor fire pits, s’mores and maple taffy!
The Championship Experience
6 Carvers, 30 Blocks of Ice, One Champion
Experience the raw power and precision of Canada’s elite ice carvers as they battle for the inaugural title of Cold Cut Champion and the prestigious Golden Cleaver Trophy. This high-stakes competition features six professional artists (three at each market location) transforming 30 massive blocks of ice into unique sculptures. Each artist has five blocks of ice to work with, using chainsaws, chisels, and hand tools to bring their vision to life. Guests are invited to watch the entire process from the first cut to the final masterpiece.
You Are the Judge: Crown the Fan Favourite
The power to choose our Fan Favourite is in your hands. Visit Guest Services at either market location to cast your ballot for the carving that impressed you most. While our official panel determines the overall championship winner, your vote decides which artist takes home the dedicated Fan Favourite award. Plus, by casting your vote, you will be entered into a draw for a chance to win $25 in Market Bucks to spend at your favorite market vendors.

The Warm-Up Passport
Step inside to escape the chill and explore our local vendors. Pick up a Warm-Up Passport at Guest Services and collect stamps from participating vendors offering exclusive event specials. Once you have completed your passport, return to Guest Services to be entered into a draw for a curated Warm-Up Prize Pack filled with local market goodies.
S’mores & More
Grab a S’more Kit inside the market for for $3 each or $5 for two and head outdoors to our wood-burning fire pits to roast them to perfection. While you’re there, enjoy the high-energy sounds of live buskers and traditional maple taffy on snow.
Important Event Notes
* Friday Sneak Peek (Feb 20): Join us for a “behind-the-scenes” look as carvers stack their ice and begin tracing their designs. Please note that main event activities like s’mores and maple taffy are reserved for Saturday and Sunday only.
* Final Voting & Awards: Sunday is the big day! Final voting closes at 3:00 PM, followed by the official Awards Ceremony at 4:00 PM.
