CFM South gears up for record-breaking Farm Fresh Festival this weekend
FARM Fresh Festival arrives at Calgary Farmers’ Market South this Saturday, July 11, following record-breaking crowds at the same event last weekend at the West location.
The venue’s new Stampede-season celebration, buoyed by a market World Cup watch party, saw last Saturday’s inaugural event generate the West location’s highest-ever single-day attendance with nearly 10,000 guests.
Now the South market is gearing up for its turn to host Farm Fresh Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will feature a range of colourful opportunities for photo and video content, with free highlights including:
- A complimentary pulled pork barbecue from Big T’s BBQ for the first 200 guests. Lunch starts at 12 p.m. First come, first served.
- Rope Demos and a Meet & Greet with Real-life Cowboys!
- Lil’ Buckaroos Market Trail scavenger hunt — with prizes to be won!
- Corn Shucking Contest — kicks off at 12 p.m. Registration opens at 11 a.m. Keep the corn you shuck and take it home in a free CFM tote bag!
- Musician Richard Stephens
- The adorable Tailgate Popsicle Truck!
- Indie-folk band The Sour Patch Men
- Calgary Stampede Princess bootmaker Colin Wintz in action
- Classic farm games, entertainment, and much more!
Dennis Ellahi, CEO of Calgary Farmers’ Market, said: “We are extremely excited to join in the citywide celebration around the Calgary Stampede with Farm Fresh Festival.
“The energy and atmosphere at our West location last weekend for the first event was incredible. At the same time, both markets were buzzing with pride as we cheered on Canada’s historic World Cup match.
“It goes to show there is a room in this city for free, accessible, family events and I believe Calgary Farmers’ Market is the perfect space.
“Now we are getting set for the second round of Farm Fresh Festival at CFM South, and we hope Calgarians will come join us for the fun, alongside the fantastic shopping.”
Calgary Farmers’ Market South is located at 510 77 Ave S.E.
Both Calgary Farmers’ Market locations will continue to broadcast all World Cup games during market open hours, including the final on Sunday, July 19 at 1 p.m.
